Voters support one list, political leaders disagree

Analysis of political situation just before the Polish parliamentary elections from 2023: „This fall, Poland will hold parliamentary elections that are crucial to the country’s future. Polish voters will decide whether Poland will move towards the populism prevailing in Hungary or return to the path of the rule of law and the European mainstream. The ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party makes no secret of the fact that it sees a potential third term as a chance to “button up” the system, that is, to establish complete control over the judiciary, the media, the prosecutor’s office, cultural and educational institutions, and electoral law so that the opposition loses all opportunity to compete with the authorities.”
