Last thursday, May 6, the Polish-German bookstore Buch|bund and the Political Critique Club in Berlin celebrated the third meeting in the framework of the Polish Spring 2013 project. As a point of departure for the discussion served the Solidarity movement and the film „80 Million”, which we watched together. The film was inspired by a true story that took place in the autumn of 1981, during the communist regime in Polen. The following discussion with Krzysztof Niewrzęda, poet, novelist and essayist; and Wacław Sobaszek, the artistic director of the Theater Center “Węgajty”, was moderated by Igor Stokfiszewski, literary critic, playwright and member of the Political Critique team. The role of literature and performing arts in the Polish democratic transition: their function in the building of the anti-system opposition in the eighties, and today were addressed.
